Job summary

CFS is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to join our accounting team in Illinois. You will verify invoices, perform 3-way matching, and process bi-weekly payments while ensuring accurate coding and strong internal controls.

You will serve as the primary vendor contact, maintain records, and support audits. Ideal candidates will have 3+ years in accounts payable, an accounting degree, and a detail-oriented, organized approach with strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in general accounting or accounts payable.
• Strong knowledge of general accounting principles.
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review and verify invoices for accuracy, proper documentation, and approval routing.
• Perform 3-way match of purchase orders, receiving documents, and invoices.
• Process bi-weekly check runs, ACH payments, wire transfers, and corporate credit card transactions.
• Ensure accurate coding of invoices to general ledger accounts, departments, and cost centers.
• Serve as primary point of contact for vendor inquiries, resolving discrepancies and payment issues.
• Maintain vendor records, W-9 forms, and banking details in compliance with fraud-prevention practices.
• Assist with audit requests and provide supporting documentation.
• Collaborate with procurement, purchasing, operations, and accounting teams to resolve invoice discrepancies.
• Support finance leadership with special projects and process improvement initiatives.
