Job summary

University of Houston is seeking an Accounts Payable professional to perform a variety of complex duties related to payment processing and auditing. The role involves reviewing vouchers, expenses, and card transactions, and ensuring compliance with university and state regulations.

Responsibilities include maintaining accounting records, assisting with system setup, and supporting 1099 processes. A minimum of one year of experience and a 4-year degree or equivalent training are required;

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of directly job-related experience.
• Formal, directly job-related 4-year degree or equivalent training.
• PeopleSoft experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Audits vouchers, travel vouchers, credits, purchase order encumbrances, and P-Card/Travel Card transactions per rules and approvals.
• Maintains accounting records by auditing vouchers, expense reports, P-card transactions, and supporting documents.
• Handles system setups such as hierarchy, credit card information, user profiles and workflow approval.
• Ensures transactions comply with applicable laws and regulations including Federal, IRS, Texas statutes and university policy.
• Processes vouchers for centrally billed invoices and university contracted vendors.
• Prepares journal entries to reallocate or correct errors and handles EFT cash receipts.
