Job summary

Granger Construction is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to support our financial operations on projects. You will handle invoice receipt, matching, and payments, while assisting with expense reports and record-keeping to ensure accuracy and compliance.

This role requires attention to detail, integrity, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced construction environment. Competitive benefits and growth opportunities available.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Experience in accounts payable or accounting support (construction industry a plus).
• Understanding of payroll processes, taxes, and related regulations (preferred).
• Experience with PDF tools and document management systems.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day support of the accounts payable function: invoice receipt, scanning, processing, verification, and payment.
• Review and process employee expense reports accurately and timely.
• Respond to lien-related inquiries and support compliance documentation.
• Maintain organized records through document management, filing, and scanning.
• Serve as a backup to payroll processing and assist Payroll Manager as needed.
• Support additional accounting and administrative tasks with CFO and Controller.
• Contribute to process improvements and maintain efficient workflows.

Day in the Life of an Accounts Payable Specialist

Are you someone who takes pride in organization, accuracy, and making things run smoothly behind the scenes? Do you enjoy working with details, solving problems, and supporting a team in meaningful ways? If so, we’d love to have you on our team.

As an Accounts Payable Specialist at Granger, you’ll play a key role in supporting the financial operations that keep our projects moving forward. From processing invoices to supporting payroll and maintaining accurate records, your work ensures efficiency, compliance, and strong financial stewardship.

You will:

• Provide day-to-day support of the accounts payable function, including invoice receipt, scanning, processing, verification, and payment
• Review and process employee expense reports accurately and timely
• Respond to lien-related inquiries and support compliance documentation
• Maintain organized records through document management, filing, and scanning
• Serve as a backup to payroll processing, including training alongside the Payroll Processing Manager and stepping in as needed
• Support additional accounting and administrative tasks in partnership with the CFO and Controller
• Contribute to process improvements and help maintain efficient, accurate workflows

To be successful in this role, you’ll bring:

• An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Experience in accounts payable or general accounting support (construction industry experience is a plus)
• Understanding of payroll processes, taxes, and related regulations (strongly preferred)
• Experience working with PDF tools and document management systems
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to problem-solve effectively
• A high level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information
• Solid business acumen and attention to detail
• The ability to manage multiple priorities in a structured and organized way
