Job summary

Giant Magellan Telescope in Pasadena, CA is seeking a Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting functions with a primary focus on accounts payable and payroll processing for month-end close.

The successful candidate will have 2-3 years of accounting experience, strong knowledge of US GAAP, and excellent attention to detail, with proficiency in MS Excel; they will work with the Controller, Accounting Manager, and Financial Analyst in a hands-on, small-business environment.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in invoicing, payroll processing, and general accounting.
• Working knowledge of US GAAP and practices.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficient in MS Excel.
• Experience in a hands-on, small business environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, process and maintain vendor invoices, expense reports, and credit card reconciliation reports.
• Review billing information for accuracy and match to PO/Contract numbers and GL accounts.
• Assist with payables-related inquiries from employees and escalated issues to the Financial Analyst.
• Assist in maintaining and processing semi-monthly payroll and ensure accurate timekeeping integration.
• Maintain payroll records and assist with payroll-related reporting.
• Assist with month end and year-end close and audits.
