Job summary

Giant Magellan Telescope Corporation in Pasadena, CA seeks a Staff Accountant to support daily accounting functions, focusing on payables and payroll processing toward month-end closes. The role requires 2-3 years of accounting experience and strong MS Excel skills.

You will report to the Controller and collaborate with the Accounting Manager and Financial Analyst to ensure accurate invoices, payroll, accruals, and expenditures, while maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
• 2-3 years accounting experience with payables, payroll, and general ledger.
• Working knowledge of US GAAP.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficient in MS Excel.
• Experience in a hands-on, small business environment.
• Strong reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, process and maintain vendor invoices, expense reports, and credit card reconciliation reports in a timely and accurate manner.
• Review billing information for accuracy, including matching invoices to PO/Contract numbers, GL, and WBS codes.
• Assist with payables-related inquiries from employees.
• Maintain and process semi-monthly payroll by reviewing timecards and entering journal data.
• Maintain accurate payroll records and assist with payroll-related reporting.
• Assist in month end and year-end closes and audits.
