Job summary

Palatka Housing Authority seeks an Accountant to manage accounts payable, payroll, and accounts receivable with accuracy and timeliness. The role supports compliance with policy and accounting standards, requiring strong organization and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate will handle multi-faceted financial duties, participate in month-end and year-end closings, and contribute to precise financial reporting while maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 1–3 years of accounting experience, preferably with A/P, A/R, and payroll exposure.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of GAAP.

Responsibilities

• Accounts Payable: process vendor invoices, ensure timely payments, reconcile statements, maintain vendor records including W-9s and 1099 reporting, monitor expense reports.
• Payroll: process biweekly payroll, maintain payroll records, handle deductions, benefits, and taxes, ensure payroll compliance, prepare payroll journal entries and reconciliations.
• Accounts Receivable: generate and send invoices, record payments, monitor aging, follow up on overdue accounts and collections, reconcile A/R balances.
• General Accounting & Reporting: assist with month-end and year-end closings, prepare journal entries and account reconciliations.
