Job summary

CBIZ Talent Solutions is recruiting an Accounts Payable/Payroll Specialist to oversee weekly payroll and high-volume accounts payable in a fast-paced, unionized environment. This onsite role in McHenry, IL requires meticulous record keeping and strong problem-solving.

You will process union and non-union payroll, manage 941s and W-2s, maintain payroll data, and ensure compliance with tax, benefits, and union requirements while supporting reporting and vendor management.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Associate Degree required; Bachelor's Degree in Accounting preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of payroll and accounts payable experience, preferably in a union environment.
• Knowledge of payroll taxes, 401(k) administration, union benefits, and payroll compliance.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll/accounting software.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly payroll for union and non-union employees, including direct deposits, withholdings and deductions.
• Maintain payroll records and ensure accurate processing of changes and timekeeping data.
• Prepare and file payroll-related reports (941s, W-2s, certified payroll, union reports).
• Reconcile payroll, benefits, taxes, and general ledger accounts.
• Manage full-cycle accounts payable: invoicing, approvals, vendor reconciliations, and payments.
• Respond to payroll and vendor inquiries in a timely, professional manner.

CBIZ Talent Solutions is partnering with our construction client seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable/Payroll Specialist to oversee full-cycle payroll and accounts payable functions in a fast-paced, unionized environment. This role is responsible for processing weekly payroll for union and non-union employees, maintaining payroll records, ensuring compliance with tax, benefit, and union requirements, and managing high-volume accounts payable transactions. The ideal candidate will support financial accuracy through account reconciliations, reporting, vendor management, and timely payment processing. The position is onsite in McHenry, IL.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process weekly payroll for union and non-union employees, including direct deposits, tax withholdings, deductions, benefits, and 401(k) contributions.
• Maintain payroll records and ensure accurate processing of employee changes, timekeeping data, and payroll transactions.
• Prepare and file payroll-related reports, including quarterly 941s, year-end W-2s, certified payroll reports, and union reporting requirements.
• Reconcile payroll, benefits, taxes, and general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Manage full-cycle accounts payable, including invoice processing, approvals, vendor reconciliations, and weekly check, ACH, and wire payment runs.
• Respond to employee payroll inquiries and vendor questions in a timely and professional manner.
• Assist with reporting, audits, special projects, and other accounting duties as assigned.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation range is between $65-$75K annually plus benefits.
