Accounts Payable Manager (Contract-to-Hire)
Location: Hybrid (4 days onsite / 1 day remote)
Schedule: Flexible start between 8:00–9:00 AM (typical day ends by 5:00–6:00 PM)
Compensation: Contract: $45-55/hour W2

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Manager to lead a high-volume, shared services AP function. This role is ideal for a hands‑on leader who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and is passionate about driving process improvements, automation, and team development.
You will oversee a large AP team, optimize processes, and ensure accurate, timely invoice processing while partnering cross‑functionally to improve efficiency and scalability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a high‑performing Accounts Payable team (11 total staff, including 2 team leads)
- Oversee end‑to‑end AP operations, including invoice processing (6,000/week), payments, and vendor management (3,000+ vendors)
- Develop and implement AP policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency
- Drive process improvements and automation initiatives, including optimization of recently implemented systems (Coupa)
- Monitor and analyze KPIs such as invoice cycle time, accuracy, aging, and cash flow impact
- Partner with cross‑functional teams (Finance, Procurement, Operations, Treasury) to resolve issues and streamline workflows
- Manage vendor relationships, including onboarding, dispute resolution, and payment inquiries
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, regulatory requirements, and proper segregation of duties
- Lead performance management, coaching, and development of the AP team
Qualifications
- 8+ years of progressive Accounts Payable experience, including leadership in a high-volume environment
- Proven experience managing teams of 8+ staff, including layered team structures (team leads)
- Strong understanding of AP processes, controls, and vendor management best practices
- Experience working in a shared services or large‑scale environment preferred
- Demonstrated ability to drive efficiency, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a balanced and team‑oriented approach
- Track record of stability and growth in prior roles
Technical Skills
- Experience with Coupa strongly preferred (recent implementation environment)
- Strong proficiency in Excel and AP reporting tools
