LHH US in Chicago, IL is seeking an Accounts Payable Manager for a Temp-to-Hire role to lead the AP function, supervise staff, and optimize processes.

This hands-on position requires 5+ years in AP and 2+ years of leadership, with strong Excel skills and experience in major ERP systems.

You will participate in month-end close, ensure invoice accuracy, and collaborate with finance, procurement and operations to improve cash flow. Hybrid work arrangement preferred.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
5+ years of progressive accounts payable experience.
2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Dynamics 365, Workday, or similar.

Responsibilities

Manage the full-cycle accounts payable process, ensuring timely and accurate payment of invoices.
Supervise and mentor AP staff, providing coaching, training, and performance support.
Review invoice coding, approvals, and payment processing to ensure compliance with company policies.
Lead month-end close activities related to accounts payable, including reconciliations and accruals.
Partner with Accounting, Finance, Procurement, and business leaders to resolve discrepancies and improve workflows.
Monitor AP aging and vendor relationships to ensure strong service levels.
Develop and implement process improvements and internal controls to increase efficiency and accuracy.
Assist with audits by providing supporting documentation and responding to requests.
Maintain compliance with tax regulations, company policies, and accounting standards.
Prepare reporting and metrics for leadership regarding AP performance and cash flow planning.

Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid preferred) Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire Compensation: $40-$45/hr

About the Opportunity Our client, a growing organization in the Chicago area, is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Manager to lead and oversee the daily operations of the AP function. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys improving processes, leading a team, and driving operational excellence.

Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience leading an AP department through process improvements or system implementations.
Background in manufacturing, distribution, professional services, or corporate environments.
Experience managing high invoice volumes and multiple entities.
