Harnish Group Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to join our finance team in Washington. The role focuses on processing vendor invoices, managing payments, and maintaining AP records with accuracy and confidentiality.

The ideal candidate has an associate degree and 1–2 years of accounts payable experience, proficient in Excel, and capable of working both independently and with a team in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• 1-2 years of accounts payable or accounting experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Experience with accounting software and ERP systems is an asset.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Review, verify, and process vendor invoices and payment requests.
• Prepare and process electronic transfers, checks, and other payment methods.
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounts payable records.
• Respond to vendor and branch inquiries regarding payments and account status.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting procedures.
• Prepare reports and documentation as required by management.
• Support other accounting and administrative functions as assigned.
