Job description

**Pay Range for the position is: $19 - $21/hr**

Summary/Primary Purpose: Position will perform accounts payable functions and will assist the accountants with clerical functions and other assigned general accounting duties.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  1. Perform functions related to the Accounting Center accounts payable including, but not limited to, the following:


    1. Secure proper approvals that support each check.

    2. Code all vendor invoices, vouchers, claims & check requests for payment.

    3. Enter, edit and update invoices, vouchers, claims & check requests into the accounting system.

    4. Process checks and batch with supporting documentation.

    5. Obtain signature on check & mail payment.

    6. File checks and supporting documentation into Content Central and verify completeness.


  2. Prepare schedules and provide selected copies of checks and supporting documentation to Compliance Accountant as requested.

  3. Reconcile accounts payable to ensure the unpaid invoice list matches the accounts payable detail each month.

  4. Ensure proper coding for 1099 vendors and obtain a listing of payments to 1099 vendors annually.

  5. Other duties may be assigned.



Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A



Education and/or Experience:Associate's degree in accounting or related field preferred, and one to two years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.



Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.




  1. Ability to be flexible and able to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously

  2. Intermediate skills in Microsoft software to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint. As


well as the ability to access payroll, timekeeping, and personal data via a web-based system.



  1. Administrative skills to include utilization of standard office equipment, data entry, 10-key,


attention to details and filing.



  1. Good communication skills both written and spoken, and ability to maintain effective working


relationships.



  1. Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters.



Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business. Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army.
