The National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC seeks an accounting specialist at the GS-08/09 level to manage cash receipts, reconciliations, and record-keeping in a federal-style environment. You will ensure accurate application of accounting codes and maintain audit-ready documents.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Your resume must include the dates of all qualifying experience (from month/year to month/year) and the number of hours worked/volunteered per week.
Specialized Experience Statement: To qualify for the GS-08 candidates must possess at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent in responsibility to the GS-07 level in the Federal service or private sector applying established accounting codes/procedures; reconciling routine transactions; AND researching/correcting recurring discrepancies.
Specialized Experience Statement: To qualify for the GS-09 candidates must possess at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent in responsibility to the GS-08 level in the Federal service or private sector independently performing complex accounting-support work; reconciling multi-source cash activity; resolving nonstandard discrepancies/corrections, applying accounting policies/controls, and coordinating resolution of issues with internal offices/customers.

Merit promotion applicants must meet the time-in-grade requirement as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-08 level.
One year at the GS-08 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level.
