The Accounting Supervisor (Property Accounting) will lead a team of accounting professionals, drive operational efficiency, strengthen financial controls, and deliver high-quality financial reporting. The role partners with cross‑functional stakeholders to ensure accurate recording and analysis of financial transactions, with a mandatory focus on property accounting and capital asset management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, develop, and coach a team of accounting professionals, including workforce planning and career development initiatives.
- Ensure team accountability for delivering work in accordance with company policies, procedures, and internal control requirements.
- Oversee the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial records and accounting transactions.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to establish and maintain accounting policies and procedures in compliance with FERC and GAAP accounting standards.
- Support the preparation, analysis, and delivery of financial reporting and insights to leadership.
- Lead and execute complex accounting projects and process improvement initiatives.
- Communicate financial results, analyses, and recommendations to senior leadership.
Property Accounting & Capital Management Focus
- Oversee and support property accounting activities, including asset capitalization, depreciation, and asset retirement obligations.
- Ensure accurate accounting for fixed assets and property transactions, including acquisitions, additions, transfers, retirements, and disposals.
- Support capital project accounting and related financial reporting.
- Partner with business leaders on divestitures, asset impairments, and valuation assessments, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards.
- Drive improvements to processes, controls, and systems supporting property accounting and capital management.
- Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures related to fixed assets and capital expenditures.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- Minimum of 6 years of progressive accounting experience, including exposure to fixed assets or property accounting.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, procedures, and internal controls.
- Preferred: Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
- Experience with property accounting, financial reporting, capital project accounting, or asset management environments.
- Prior experience leading or supervising a team.
