Job summary

Steel-Dynamic seeks an experienced accounting professional to oversee daily operations of the accounting department and support the Controller in financial functions. The role includes supervising staff, month-end close, payroll, and audits, requiring strong analytical and leadership skills.

The candidate should be prepared to travel to other locations as needed and contribute to process improvements and special projects, while maintaining strict internal controls.

Qualifications

• 4-year Accounting or Finance degree; minimum 2 years accounting experience.
• Strong interpersonal skills with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Willing to travel to other locations when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Verify accuracy and completeness of accounting activities; perform journal entries.
• Perform month-end counts and reconciliations for inventory.
• Review journal entries and reconciliations.
• Prepare month-end reports.
• Prepare sales and use tax returns.
• Recommend financial actions by analyzing accounting options.
• Guide accounting staff activities and answer questions; assist corporate with division-wide tasks.
• Assist with process improvements and special projects.
• Safeguard confidential information for employees, company, and customers.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and SDI policies.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge through ongoing education.
