Job summary

Marathon Petroleum seeks an Operations Accounting Supervisor to lead a team of professional accountants, ensuring timely, accurate recording in line with company policies. You will manage internal/external service, management reporting, and all aspects of the monthly close.

Responsibilities include invoicing contractual and/or physical gas or oil, supervising staff, working with IT on system upgrades, and enforcing internal controls per SOX.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.
• Six years of accounting or relevant experience.
• One to two years of supervisory experience preferred.
• One to three years of oil and gas industry experience preferred.
• Experience with SAP accounting software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a staff of professional accountants to ensure timely and accurate recording of transactions.
• Collaborate with the Manager to set and monitor annual goals and metrics.
• Develop and coach employees on performance of assigned duties.
• Work with internal and external parties to resolve issues and coordinate system upgrades.
• Monitor internal controls to verify SOX compliance.
• Participate in the monthly close, review journal entries and reconciliations.
• Maintain reporting for government programs as needed.
