Description

Saltmarsh is currently hiring an Accounting Specialist who sees themselves as a leader and wants to join a firm that fosters both personal and professional development and supports the drive for advancement. As an Accounting Specialist, you will be responsible for managing multiple clients and ensuring their financial needs are met. This role does have high peak times, so it will be important that someone is self-motivated with excellent client service skills, leadership qualities, and a passion for challenging the status quo.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and maintain technical knowledge of GAAP and tax regulations as it pertains to accounting services.
  2. Reconcile bank statements, assist with month-end and year-end close processes, and maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
  3. Takes ownership of assigned work, remains self-accountable for personal decisions & outcomes, and honors commitments.
  4. Actively demonstrates the ability to strengthen client relationships and begins to show traits of a Trusted Advisor.
  5. Utilize technology to identify and recommend new efficiencies for producing client work.
  6. Monitors and effectively controls all time on client engagements.
  7. Participate in business development and identify opportunities to cross-sell value-added services to clients.
  8. Continuously improve personal effectiveness by staying up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and accounting software utilized by clients.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s in Accounting or Business Administration preferred.
  2. 2 - 4+ years of hands-on accounting experience with a large local, regional or national public accounting firm preferred.
  3. Strong knowledge in accounting principles and practices and a growing knowledge of firm products and services within CAAS.
  4. Able to anticipate problems/barriers and help develop plans to address them.
  5. Deliver legendary service by making each interaction with our clients stand out.
  6. Share knowledge with others to facilitate skill development and career advancement.
  7. Great project management, analytical, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  8. Contribute to business development efforts by identifying potential clients and networking opportunities.
  9. Thorough knowledge and understanding of client tools, systems and processes, and their practical applications.
  10. Solid technical knowledge in accounting and business management software; e.g., QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online (Enterprise, Premier, etc.), and Financial Cents are strongly preferred.
  11. Experience with Xero, Sage, Intacct and Bill.com would be ideal.
