Responsibilities

  • Maintains student financial records and communicates with students and creditors regarding payments, balances owe, refunds, and other financial transactions.
  • Works with college departments to maintain detailed accounting records and accounts payable for college-wide programs and projects.
  • Facilitates accounts receivable, cashiering, deposits, and collections; handles vendor invoices and purchase orders.
  • Prepares reconciliation reports for accuracy and investigation of outstanding items.
  • Interprets federal regulations and applies to student accounts and financial aid eligibility.
  • Communicates with students, internal personnel, and external agencies/vendors as required.
  • Interprets computer reports; prepares journal entries.
  • Operates and maintains office equipment; trains student personnel.

Job description

  1. Maintains student financial records and communicates with students and creditors regarding payments, balances owed, 1098-T forms, refunds, and other financial transactions.
  2. Works with other College personnel/departments to maintain detailed accounting records and accounts payable for college wide programs and projects (e.g., Enrollment Services, Financial Aid, Veteran Affairs, etc.).
  3. Facilitates College account receivables (e.g. third party billing, escrows, student refunds, financial aid transmittals, etc.), cashiering and deposits, banking issues, collections, and/or various other projects.
  4. Handles College account payables (e.g. vendor invoices, check requests, purchase orders, vendor statements, fixed asset database, etc.).
  5. Prepares reconciliation reports for accuracy and investigation of outstanding items.
  6. Assists in interpretation of federal regulations and applies to collection of student accounts and financial aid eligibility
  7. Communicates with students, internal personnel, and/or external agencies/vendors as required.
  8. Interprets computer reports; prepares journal entries.
  9. Operates office equipment (e.g., photocopier, calculator, telephone, computer and any other equipment utilized by the college); cleans, maintains, and arranges for service of equipment when necessary
  10. Trains and directs College student personnel with appropriate approval.
  11. Performs other duties, as assigned.
  12. Ability to work additional hours, as needed.

EDUCATION: An earned Associate Degree or higher in Accounting or Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting.

Any Associate Degree or higher with successful completion of 16 college credit hours in Accounting.

-AND-

EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
