Florida Department of Health in Gainesville is seeking an Accountant I to perform a range of accounting duties in a large county health department. You will prepare deposits, verify funds, process vouchers, and support cash handling according to DOH policies.

The role also includes managing vendor warrants, accounts receivable, payroll warrants, petty cash, and quarterly audits, with a focus on accuracy and confidentiality. Travel may be required, and E-Verify applies to employment.

Formación

• Basic math skills; ability to use a calculator, printer, scanner, computer, copier; knowledge of WORD, EXCEL, PDF, general accounting principles knowledge, customer service skills, communication skills, organizational skills, extensive computer knowledge, detail oriented, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Responsabilidades

• Prepares deposit for transport to bank daily in accordance with DOH and local CHD Cash Handling policy.
• Scans checks deposited into the electronic file and completes deposit logs.
• Provides backup support as needed for scanning of checks into appropriate folders and maintains deposit documentation.
• Responsible for verification and reconciliation of funds received and end of cash drawer reports.
• Processes client accounts write-offs and sends to collections monthly; submits aged accounts receivable reports.
• Distributes payroll warrants and maintains logs; verifies identification and signs off on logs.
• Designated as the change fund sub-custodian; handles petty cash reimbursements and quarterly audits.
• Conducts monthly pharmacy audits and uploads documentation to the business office folders.
• Provides backup for TR30 deposit data entry for consortium and CHD's as requested.
• Maintains sign-out log for Sunpass transponders and travel-related paperwork.
• Secures designated information sets to protect confidentiality, data integrity, and appropriate access.
• Performs other related duties as required.
