Job summary

HEART OF FLORIDA HEALTH CENTER is seeking an Accounting Assistant to provide accounting and financial support in a fast-paced healthcare setting. Responsibilities include cash receipts, AR, and month-end journal entries, with a focus on accuracy and confidentiality.

The ideal candidate has an Associate degree or related field and 1–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in healthcare. Proficiency in Excel and ERP systems is required to succeed in this role.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or related field or equivalent experience.
• 1–3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
• Healthcare, pharmacy or FQHC experience preferred.
• Proficiency with Excel and accounting software required.
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles and confidentiality.
• Experience with ERP/healthcare accounting systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and record daily cash receipts and deposits.
• Assist with bank reconciliations and cash transactions.
• Record patient, insurance, pharmacy, and other receivable payments.
• Maintain AR records and supporting documentation.
• Prepare recurring and adjusting journal entries.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Maintain schedules and documentation for balance sheet accounts.
• Reconcile pharmacy payments from third-party payers and PBMs.
• Investigate variances and coordinate with billing staff.
