Job summary

Harmony Senior Services in Roanoke, Virginia is seeking an Accounting Specialist to support the integrity of financial records by processing transactions, maintaining reconciliations, and assisting with month-end close. This role partners with community and corporate teams to ensure compliance with policies.

You will post daily charge batches, perform bank reconciliations, and help manage fixed assets and capex, contributing to accurate reporting and strong internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post daily charge batches, recurring charges, adjustments, and other resident accounting transactions.
• Perform daily bank reconciliations for assigned community bank accounts and resolve reconciling items timely.
• Complete monthly balance sheet account reconciliations as assigned.
• Maintain the fixed asset subledger and related schedules.
• Record capital asset additions, disposal, transfers, depreciation and amortization.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting procedures, and internal control requirements.
• Monitor accounting activities and elevate issues, exceptions, and potential process breakdowns that may impact financial accuracy, cash flow, resident accounts, or reporting deadlines.
• Demonstrate discretion and professionalism when handling confidential financial records, business information, and resident data.

Job Description

The Accounting Specialist supports the integrity of the organization's financial records by accurately processing transactions, maintaining account reconciliations, and assisting with month-end close activities. This role helps ensure timely and reliable financial reporting by providing operational accounting support, resolving discrepancies, and partnering with community and corporate teams to maintain compliance with company policies and accounting standards.

Essential Functions
