Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, or related accounting support.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel with basic to advanced functions.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance preferred.

Responsabilités

• Review, code, and enter vendor invoices, matching to POs and receipts; investigate discrepancies.
• Audit freight invoices, process import-related transactions and landed costs, reconcile vendor statements.
• Prepare twice-monthly vendor payment runs and reconcile company credit card purchases.
• Apply customer payments to open invoices; research unapplied cash and short payments; manage retailer deductions and chargebacks.
• Monitor customer aging; follow up on past-due balances; assist with disputes resolution.
• Prepare reconciliations, schedules, and reports to support month-end close and audits.

Our client, a growing consumer products importer and distributor in Providence, is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to support accounts payable and accounts receivable for customer, vendor, freight, and inventory-related transactions. Depending on your background, the role will focus mainly on AP or AR, with cross-training in both areas.

This role is ideal for an organized, accurate professional who enjoys researching discrepancies, working with vendors and customers, and keeping financial records clean and up to date in a fast-paced, product-based environment.

Compensation & Highlights:

• $55,000-$60,000 per year, based on experience

Responsibilities of the Accounting Specialist:

• Review, code, and enter vendor invoices, matching them to purchase orders and goods receipts, and investigate discrepancies before processing.
• Audit freight invoices, process import-related transactions and landed costs, and reconcile vendor statements.
• Prepare twice-monthly vendor payment runs and reconcile company credit card purchases.
• Apply customer payments to open invoices, research unapplied cash and short payments, and manage retailer deductions and chargebacks.
• Monitor customer aging, follow up on past-due balances, and work with internal teams to resolve customer disputes.
• Prepare reconciliations, schedules, and reports that support month‑end close and audit requests.

Qualifications of the Accounting Specialist:

• 1–3 years of experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, or a related accounting support role.
• Working knowledge of general ledger coding, reconciliations, and transaction documentation.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including sorting, filtering, formulas, and reconciling data.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, follow-through, and communication skills.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• Experience with SAP Business One or another ERP system, physical inventory, retailer deductions, or import and freight accounting is a plus.
