Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Specialist to support day-to-day accounting operations within a collaborative finance team. This role is ideal for an accounting professional looking to expand their experience across general ledger accounting, reconciliations, month-end close, financial reporting, and accounts payable/receivable. The successful candidate will possess a strong foundation in accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and a commitment to accuracy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and post journal entries accurately and timely.
  • Perform monthly bank, balance sheet, and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
  • Process and maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Review, code, and reconcile invoices and expense reports.
  • Assist with accruals, prepaid expense schedules, and fixed asset tracking.
  • Support the preparation of financial statements and internal management reports.
  • Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and variances.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with annual audits and other financial reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments to ensure accurate financial information.
  • Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • 1–3+ years of accounting experience in a Staff Accountant, Junior Accountant, Accounting Specialist, Accounting Coordinator, or similar role.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP accounting principles.
  • Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, month-end close, and general ledger accounting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and formulas.
  • Experience with accounting software or ERP systems (QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, SAP, etc.).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a nonprofit, healthcare, manufacturing, professional services, or corporate accounting environment.
  • Exposure to financial reporting, budgeting, audit support, or payroll.
  • CPA candidate or desire to pursue professional accounting certifications is a plus.
