Job summary

CTD, Lubbock, TX, US is seeking an Accounting Specialist to manage accounts payable, journal entries, reconciliations, and tax reporting. This role supports the Controller and helps ensure accuracy and compliance across expenses such as rent, utilities, and fleet costs.

Candidates should have at least two years of full-cycle bookkeeping or staff accounting, knowledge of GAAP, strong attention to detail, and solid communication skills. A degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of full-cycle bookkeeping or staff accounting experience.
• Experience with month-end close and financial statement preparation.
• Understanding of accrual-basis accounting and GAAP.

Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable, including invoice entry, coding, approval routing, and payment runs.
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, prepaid expenses, and fixed asset activity.
• Perform monthly reconciliations of bank, credit card, and balance sheet accounts.
• Execute the period-end and year-end close process in accordance with established timelines.
• Prepare financial and management reports for the Controller's review.
• Prepare and file sales and use tax returns.
• Assist with annual 1099 reporting.
• Provide documentation and support for external audits and tax preparation.
• Maintain internal controls and contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes.
