Job summary

Ambient Enterprises is seeking an experienced Accounting Specialist (Part-Time) to support day-to-day accounting needs. This role handles AP/AR, cash flow reporting, commissions, reconciliations, and month-end support using QuickBooks Desktop.

The candidate should have 3–5 years of accounting experience, strong Excel skills, and the ability to work independently while communicating clearly with customers, vendors, and internal teams. Hybrid in-office schedule, about 1 day per week.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Desktop.
• Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, journal entries, and cash flow reporting.
• Experience supporting month-end accounting activities.
• Proficiency in Excel and ability to learn new accounting systems.
• Strong communication skills when working with customers, vendors, and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Process and review vendor bills, customer invoices, and payments.
• Enter purchase orders and review invoicing for accuracy.
• Receive and record customer payments and initiate vendor payments.
• Prepare cash flow reports twice a week, including cash received, expected income, and upcoming payments.
• Track vendor payment terms and ensure bills are paid according to established schedules.
• Communicate with customers and vendors regarding invoices, payments, and account questions.
• Prepare quarterly commission reports and calculate commission splits based on project responsibilities.
• Track commissions for projects that may run over several months and update calculations as needed.
• Prepare and record journal entries.
• Maintain supporting schedules and assist with month-end close.
• Complete templates and gather information needed for sales tax processing.
• Reconcile customer, vendor, and prepaid accounts.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
• Work in QuickBooks Desktop and assist with the transition to a new accounting system as needed.

Estimated Compensation

$26-$33/hour, with flexibility based on experience and qualifications.
