Job summary

Cogentanalytics, a Greensboro-based consulting firm, is seeking a Consulting Controller to strengthen client financial operations and drive accuracy in day-to-day transactions. You will prepare journal entries, conduct monthly reconciliations, and generate financial statements while supporting cross-functional teams.

The role emphasizes collaboration with in-house Controllers and CFOs, delivering clear communication and rigorous controls in a dynamic, fast-growth environment.

Qualifications

• Prior hands-on accounting experience with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and perform day-to-day financial transactions (A/R, A/P).
• Prepare journal entries (loans, taxes, bank fees, 401(k) deductions).
• Conduct monthly reconciliations and prepare financial statements.
• Credit card management and reconciliation.

Consulting Controller

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Monitor and/or perform day‑to‑day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, computing and recording of accounts receivables and accounts payable.
• Prepare journal entries such as loans, taxes, bank fees, 401(k) deductions, etc.
• Conduct monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, sales tax, payroll taxes and 401(k).
• Monitor and/or prepare monthly financial statements and all supporting documents.
• Credit card management and reconciliation.
• Work in conjunction with our in‑house Consulting Controllers and CFOs.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Prior hands‑on accounting experience.
• Administrative duties completed in a timely and accurate manner.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Effective time‑management skills.
• Excellent client interaction skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
• Ability to work well independently and with a team.
• Knowledge of various accounting software; QuickBooks Online is a plus.
• Quick adaptability, comprehension of new systems, processes and procedures.
• Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment.
• Demonstrated ability to implement solutions and strong analytical skills.
• Ability to handle multiple projects with strict deadlines.
• Positive attitude.
• Ability to communicate in English, both written and verbal.
• Advanced computer skills.
