Job summary

Applied Optoelectronics, Inc. (AOI) seeks an Accounting Operations Manager to lead senior-level accounting oversight across AP, AR, GL, month-end close, and manufacturing cost accounting.

You will partner with the Accounting Supervisor to ensure accurate, well-documented close activities and strengthen reconciliation quality and controls as AOI grows in the U.S. Responsibilities include supervising month-end processes, reviewing journal entries, and supporting audits and SOX compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Active CPA license required; candidates without an active CPA license will not be considered.
• 4+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including month-end close, reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Experience in manufacturing, semiconductor, technology, or similarly complex environments.
• Proven knowledge of GAAP, GL accounting, reconciliations, and financial statement support.
• Experience supporting audits and documentation with internal/external auditors.
• ERP experience and familiarity with accounting workflows.
• Advanced Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables, multi-source reconciliations).
• Strong written and verbal communication, and ability to work across teams.

Responsibilities

• Support month-end and quarter-end close across AP, AR, accruals, cash, and intercompany activity.
• Review journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Serve as escalation point for general ledger and operations questions.
• Prepare close-related reconciliations and workpapers for Controller review.
• Coordinate with Controller on cash and close items.
• Support manufacturing accounting, including inventory, fixed assets, depreciation, and COGS close.
• Reconcile payroll-related GL accounts in coordination with HR.
• Oversee AP/AR activities performed by Accounting Supervisor and team.
• Drive process improvements, SOPs, and close timelines.
• Support SOX and internal control requirements; assist audits.
