Are you looking to run the accounting function, not just one piece of it? Our client, a boutique real estate firm is looking for a Accounting Operations Manager to own the accounting function and serve as the CFO's right hand. In this role, you’ll run the whole accounting operation, lead your own team, and help shape how finance works as the company scales. This is a rare long-term seat. You can put down roots, grow with the firm, and actually see your impact on the business. This role is onsite 5 days a week in West LA.
What You'll Own
- The accounting operation: Run AP, AR, and GL with real ownership over accuracy and controls.
- Your own team: Lead, mentor, and develop a team, and build a culture people want to stay for.
- Close and reporting: Deliver a month-end close and reporting package that gives leadership real clarity.
- Strategic partnership with the CFO: Work side by side on budgeting, forecasting, and the financial decisions that shape where the company goes next.
- Cash management: Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and approvals across entities so there are no surprises.
- Dashboards and KPIs: Build the reports and metrics leadership uses to run the business, and make the numbers easy to act on.
- Systems and process: Lead hands‑on system upgrades and implementations, automate the manual work, and find smarter ways to get things done.
- Audit and tax: Be the point person for external auditors and tax advisors, and keep everything organized and on schedule.
- Compliance and controls: Write and enforce accounting policies, keep internal controls tight, and keep the books audit‑ready at all times.
- Special projects: Take on new initiatives as the company grows, from new entities to process overhauls to whatever the CFO needs next.
What You Bring
- Minimum 4+ years of progressive accounting or audit experience within the real estate, financial services, or similar/adjacent professional services firm
- A bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience
- A CPA, or you're actively working toward one
- Comfort in QuickBooks, Excel, and Salesforce, and excitement about improving systems as the company grows
- The confidence to lead a team and hold your own with senior leadership, plus real curiosity about the numbers and how the business runs
Why This One Is Different
- A direct partnership with the CFO and real visibility with leadership
- True ownership of the function, not just one piece of it
- A long‑term growth path at a firm that's scaling
- A tight‑knit, in‑office team where your contributions get noticed
