Our client is a growing commercial real estate investment, brokerage, and development firm seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to oversee the day-to-day accounting operations of multiple affiliated entities. This is a highly visible role that combines traditional accounting responsibilities with operational support, vendor management, and collaboration across real estate development projects.
The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable managing accounting functions for multiple entities while partnering with company leadership, brokers, lenders, vendors, and joint venture partners. This position is initially onsite to support training and integration, with the opportunity to transition to a hybrid schedule over time.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all accounting and general ledger functions for the corporate operating company and affiliated real estate entities.
- Oversee accounting activities for multiple LLCs, including intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and receivable/payable management.
- Prepare and maintain monthly, quarterly, and annual financial records and reports.
- Track and monitor costs associated with commercial real estate development projects.
- Partner with brokerage professionals to process commissions and generate invoices related to sales and leasing transactions.
- Manage the full accounts payable cycle, including vendor payments, expense reporting, and corporate credit card reconciliations.
- Coordinate banking relationships, including account administration, treasury activities, and positive pay controls.
- Serve as the primary contact for payroll administration through Paychex.
- Coordinate with external providers and administrators for employee benefits, including 401(k), health insurance, and commercial insurance programs.
- Act as the internal liaison for outsourced IT services and cloud-based business systems.
- Ensure compliance for all affiliated entities, including annual state registrations and corporate filings.
- Communicate with joint venture partners and assist with financial reporting and project-related requests.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, enhance efficiency, and leverage technology to support company growth.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience required.
- Prior experience within commercial real estate, real estate development, property management, construction, or a related industry strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and intercompany transactions.
- Experience managing multiple entities and complex organizational structures preferred.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks required or highly preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Experience with SharePoint or other cloud-based document management systems is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
