Job summary

Discovery Senior Living is seeking an Accounting Manager to own full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of senior living communities and to lead a two-person offshore accounting team that supports the close.

You will prepare, review, close the books, and build review structures for offshore growth. This role suits a CPA with public accounting roots, now managing people and processes end-to-end.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting (Accounting major required).
• Active CPA license a plus.
• 2+ years of public accounting experience a plus—audit or assurance in a CPA firm, ideally with real estate or senior living clients.
• 1–2 years of experience as an Accounting Manager or equivalent with direct supervision.
• 5+ years of total progressive accounting experience.
• Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and accrual accounting.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel — pivot tables, lookups, large-data reconciliation.

Responsibilities

• Directly manage two offshore accounting staff: set priorities, assign work, and manage close calendar.
• Serve as liaison between US leadership and offshore team; accountable for output.
• Review offshore journal entries, reconciliations, schedules, and draft financials before Controller review.
• Structure work with time-zone considerations and clear handoffs; maintain written SOPs and close calendars.
• Train team on senior living accounting specifics and on judgment, not just mechanics.
• Conduct performance feedback and advise on scope expansion or hiring as portfolio grows.
• Own full month-end close for the portfolio: journal entries, accruals, reclasses, prepaid and deferred revenue schedules.
