Job summary

Public.com is seeking an Accounting Manager to own core accounting operations and scale processes in a fast-moving, high-growth fintech environment. You’ll lead month-end close, improve controls, support the year-end audit, and collaborate across teams to strengthen the financial foundation.

Ideal candidates have 4–7+ years in accounting, with CPA preferred or in progress, and solid NetSuite/ERP experience. This role offers growth in a dynamic company with equity potential.

Qualifications

• 4–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in public accounting or high-growth startups.
• Solid understanding of US GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
• Experience managing or supporting month-end close processes in a dynamic environment.
• Familiarity with ERP systems; NetSuite experience is a plus.
• Exposure to audit processes and working with external auditors.
• Experience building or improving accounting processes, controls, or automation is a plus.
• Fintech or high-growth industry experience is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Manage the month-end close and reporting process to ensure accurate and timely close.
• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations with focus on scalability and automation.
• Assist in designing and documenting internal controls and accounting policies.
• Support year-end audits and work with external auditors for a smooth process.
• Partner cross-functionally for special projects, ad-hoc reporting, and financial analysis.
• Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and strengthen the accounting infrastructure.
• Act as hands-on contributor in a lean team with shifting priorities.
