Job summary

Public, the world’s first agentic brokerage, is seeking an Accounting Manager in New York to own core accounting operations and help scale finance processes in a fast-moving, high-growth environment.

You’ll work closely with leadership to build a strong financial foundation, manage month-end close, support audits, and drive improvements across accounting workflows while aligning with US GAAP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance required; CPA preferred or in progress.
• 4–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in high-growth startups or public accounting.
• Solid understanding of US GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
• Experience in month-end close process and close deadlines.
• Experience with ERP systems and accounting tools; NetSuite experience is a plus.
• Exposure to audits and working with external auditors.
• Experience improving accounting processes, controls, or automation.
• Fintech or high-growth industry experience is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Manage the month-end close and reporting process to ensure an accurate and timely close.
• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations with a focus on process improvement and automation.
• Assist in designing and documenting internal controls and accounting policies.
• Support year-end audits and coordinate with external auditors.
• Partner cross-functionally for ad-hoc reporting and financial analysis requests.
• Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and strengthen the accounting infrastructure.
• Contribute hands-on in a lean team environment where priorities shift quickly.
