Job summary

Legacy Executive Search is seeking an Accounting Manager to partner with the Controller and lead day-to-day accounting operations across a multi-company structure. You will own technical accounting, oversee a small team, and drive process improvements to strengthen controls and reporting.

The role combines hands-on accounting with leadership, requiring focus on accuracy, timeliness and staff development to support strategic financial objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred.
• At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Supervisory experience in an operations-focused environment preferred.
• Knowledge of GAAP, GL accounting, month-end close, reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Experience with tax, payroll taxes, multi-company accounting, intercompany transactions and consolidated financial statements.
• Strong Excel capability and experience with Sage or comparable ERP system.
• Experience in construction, field services, or industrial services preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day accounting operations: AP, AR, Payroll, GL, and monthly/year-end close.
• Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, accruals and adjustments to support accurate and timely financial statements.
• Review and approve reconciliations, billing, payables and payroll entries; resolve discrepancies and account imbalances.
• Support internal and external financial reporting requirements, including banks and auditors.
• Manage multiple companies, including intercompany transactions and consolidated financial reporting.
• Serve as a backup resource for payroll and assist with payroll tax filings as needed.
• Strengthen the use of financial systems, including Sage Intacct, and improve accounting workflows, controls and reporting.
• Set clear expectations, manage performance and build a collaborative team culture grounded in accountability and continuous improvement.
