Job summary

Merchants Fleet, a fast-growing fleet management leader, seeks an Accounting Manager to lead the FPAC team's monthly close, financial reporting, and audits. You will mentor accountants, drive process improvements, and collaborate with cross-functional leaders to support business objectives.

You will oversee journal entries, reconciliations, and data integrity while building scalable financial processes and forecasting insights for strategic decision-making.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of accounting experience with progressive responsibility.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and fundamental accounting principles.
• Proven experience leading, coaching, and developing accounting teams.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the month-end close and financial reporting process, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
• Prepare and review journal entries, account analyses, and reconciliations.
• Manage a portfolio of account reconciliations and review reconciliations prepared by team members.
• Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of accounting data and financial information.
• Analyze accounting and operational processes and recommend improvements that drive efficiency, scalability, and effectiveness.
• Develop a deep understanding of budget and forecast drivers and evaluate variances against actual results.
• Lead, coach, and develop accounting team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
• Support internal and external audit activities and help ensure successful audit outcomes.
• Partner with business leaders and stakeholders across the organization to support financial reporting and business objectives.
• Participate in special projects and strategic initiatives that support company growth and operational excellence.
