Job summary

MidAtlantic Recruiters seeks an experienced Accounting Manager to lead day-to-day accounting operations and a small team. You will own the monthly close, reconciliations, AP/AR processes, and related activities, ensuring accuracy and control.

You will report to the Controller, learn company processes, and enforce established controls while escalating significant issues with urgency. Strong Excel skills and a accounting leadership mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of progressive accounting experience including month-end close and balance-sheet reconciliations.
• Experience managing, supervising, or reviewing accounting staff.
• Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and applying principles to practical transactions.
• Advanced Excel skills (formulas, lookups, PivotTables, data analysis, reconciliations).

Responsibilities

• Own and complete the monthly close by the established deadline with journal entries and accruals.
• Prepare and review balance-sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items.
• Ensure the general ledger and financial statements are accurate and close-ready.
• Provide dependable financial data for reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and analysis.
• Supervise and review the AP and AR work, including training and accountability.
• Maintain reliable AP/AR records and ensure proper period recording.
• Oversee payment processing per approval requirements and controls.
• Set expectations for direct reports and address performance issues promptly.
• Enforce accounting policies, procedures, approvals, and internal controls.
