Job summary

The Mannik & Smith Group, Inc. is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join our Finance team in Detroit, MI. Reporting to the Controller, you will guide daily and monthly accounting operations and provide financial insight to support growth.

Responsibilities include leading monthly close, GL oversight, AR management, and coordinating payroll. Ideal candidates have 7–15 years of accounting experience, CPA/MBA preferred, and strong Deltek knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly close with reconciliations, trial balance reviews, and financial statements.
• Oversee general ledger activities, coding, journal entries, and period-end adjustments.
• Manage accounts receivable invoicing, aging reviews, and collections issues.
• Coordinate payroll with external processor and labor cost allocation to projects.
• Support internal and external audit activities and FAR compliance.
• Assist with cash flow forecasting with leadership collaboration.
• Partner with Controller to support day-to-day accounting operations.
• Manage processes across multiple entities and project segments.
• Ensure accurate project costing and cost allocations for reporting.
• Identify and implement process improvements and internal controls.
