Job summary

The Mannik & Smith Group, Inc. (MSG) is a people focused, award-winning, full-service consulting firm seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join our Finance team in Columbus, OH.

Reporting directly to the Controller, you will guide daily and monthly accounting operations to support long-term growth. You will lead the close, oversee the general ledger, manage accounts receivable, coordinate payroll, and support audits, cash forecasting, and process improvements while maintaining compliance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required ( CPA & MBA preferred ).
• 7–15 years accounting experience with at least 3 years as Accounting Manager.
• AEC industry experience strongly preferred.
• Deltek software experience (VantagePoint, Vision, Costpoint, and/or Ajera) is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly close process, including reconciliations and financial statement prep.
• Oversee general ledger activities, journal entries and period-end adjustments.
• Manage accounts receivable: invoicing accuracy, aging reviews, collections issues.
• Coordinate payroll with external processor and labor cost allocations to projects.
• Support audit activities, FAR compliance, and audit documentation.
• Assist cash flow forecasting through billings and collections.
• Collaborate with Controller on daily accounting operations.
• Manage multi-entity and project-based accounting and cost allocations.
• Ensure project costing accuracy and profitability analysis.
• Identify and implement process improvements and internal controls.
• Maintain compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
