Job summary

Accutemp Engineering, a NexCore partner with a Stoneham, MA operation, seeks an Assistant Accounting Manager to lead daily accounting activities and a four-person team. You will manage purchasing, AP, AR, invoicing, collections, cash flow, and bank reconciliations, aligning with the VP of Finance for month-end close and reporting.

The role requires guiding month-end close, asset schedules, and ad-hoc reporting to support strategic decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including full-cycle AP, AR, and month-end close.
• 2+ years of experience supervising or leading accounting staff.
• Hands-on experience with balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and P&L variance analysis.
• Working knowledge of GAAP.
• Experience maintaining fixed asset, depreciation, and amortization schedules.
• Experience supporting payroll processing and payroll reconciliations.
• Experience with cloud-based ERP system, and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, reconciliations).
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines.
• Clear communicator who can work with executives, vendors, customers, and internal stakeholders.
• Experience supporting annual external audits.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting staff including AR Coordinators, AP Coordinator, Fleet Manager/AP Coordinator.
• Ensure timely and accurate completion of purchasing, accounts payable, customer invoicing, collections, cash management, bank reconciliations, and payroll.
• Own the month-end close process with balance sheet reconciliations and P&L variance analysis.
• Support annual audits and provide ad-hoc reporting for decision making.
• Maintain fixed asset depreciation and amortization schedules, and fleet compliance.
