Job summary

R.F. MacDonald Co. is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to direct the organization’s accounting affairs and prepare financial analyses and reports for management. The role oversees policies, fiscal records, audits, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.

The position reports to the VP Finance/Controller and leads a team of accountants, with responsibilities spanning month-end close, budgeting support, and regulatory filings. Corporate location; full-time exempt role.

Qualifications

• Four to six years of related job experience.

Responsibilities

• Manages accounting functions including general ledger, accounts receivable, credit, billing, fixed assets, accounts payable, and payroll.
• Develops and interprets financial and operational information to appraise profitability and budget performance.
• Completes month-end close within 5 days with staff accountants and provides balance sheet reconciliations and reporting.
• Assists VP Finance/Controller with annual budget preparation and reviews submissions for completeness and accuracy.
• Ensures compliance with Davis-Bacon prevailing wage standards and submits certified payroll reports.
• Oversees California and Nevada sales tax returns.
• Reviews and updates accounting systems and internal controls; supervises monthly closing and account reviews.
• Coordinates annual independent audits and regulatory requirements.
• Monitors credit risk and receivables per terms; communicates collection issues to management.
• Tracks cash flow daily, weekly, and for the forecast to the parent company.
• Hires, trains, and develops accounting staff; manages workflow and performance.
