Job summary

Gibson Dunn, a leading global law firm, is seeking an Assistant Manager, Accounting in Los Angeles or Orange County. You will own month-end close, review complex journal entries, reconcile accounts, and manage fixed assets, while guiding staff and enhancing internal controls.

Reporting to the Assistant Controller, you will coordinate domestic and international tax and reporting efforts, with expertise in CMS Aderant, Sage, and Emburse as a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own key components of month-end and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and review complex and non-recurring journal entries.
• Reconcile bank and balance sheet accounts monthly and resolve variances.
• Serve as SME in the general ledger and chart of accounts across systems.
• Manage fixed asset accounting, depreciation, and capitalization thresholds.
• Become subject matter expert in Sage and CMS Aderant.
• Prepare analyses for domestic and international tax returns.
• Compile audit schedules and support documentation for audits.
• Develop accounting policies and strengthen internal controls.
• Provide guidance to accounting staff and supervise/direct reports.
