Position: Accounting Manager, Accounts Payable

The Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) strengthens democracy around the globe through private enterprise and market-oriented reform. CIPE is one of the four core institutes of the National Endowment for Democracy and an affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Since 1983, CIPE has worked with business leaders, policymakers, and civil society to build the institutions vital to a democratic society. CIPE’s key program areas include enterprise ecosystems, democratic governance, business advocacy, anti-corruption & ethics, and trade.

Position Overview

Reports to: Controller

Scope: CIPE is seeking a full-time, exempt Washington, D.C.-based Accounting Manager. Under the direction of the Controller, the Accounting Manager oversees staff responsible for processing Accounts Payable, Expense Reports, and Credit Card payments. This position currently has two direct reports.

Responsibilities
  • Management: Manage the finance staff, ensure they have resources, training, and support; support finance and US-based non-finance staff in understanding financial software, policies, and procedures; serve as backup for direct reports during turnover or absence.
  • Transaction review, processing, and reconciliation: Ensure transactions follow policies, respond to staff inquiries, support credit card payment processes, monitor advances and prepayments using JAMIS software, review and support reconciliations performed by direct reports.
Key Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting
  • Experience with JAMIS accounting software desired
  • Minimum of 7 years relevant experience in payment management
  • Experience in a grant-funded INGO preferred
  • Strong computer skills, proficiency in MS Office (Excel and Outlook)
  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, independently and in a team, with the ability to prioritize and lead small projects
Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $81,000-$101,000 per year.
