Job summary

StevenDouglas is seeking an Accounting Manager to join our Wilmington team. You will own the P&L and balance sheet for multiple brands and lead a group of staff and senior accountants, partnering with brand Presidents and operations leadership to explain results and forecast.

The role focuses on monthly close, journal entries, variance analysis, and ensuring on-time delivery, with coaching of your team and driving process improvements, including audits and system implementations.

Qualifications

• 6–10 years of related accounting experience, mix of public and private.
• Experience leading multiple staff and senior accountants.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial statement prep.

Responsibilities

• Perform variance and trend analysis and explain variances to leadership.

Our client, a growing private equity-backed management company, is seeking an Accounting Manager to join its Wilmington team. We're looking for an accounting leader to own the P&L and balance sheet for a group of brands and lead a team of staff and senior accountants. You'll partner with brand presidents and operations leadership to explain results, spot trends, and support the forecast.

What you'll do

• Own the accuracy of the P&L and balance sheet for your brands
• Lead the monthly close, including journal entry and reconciliation review, variance and trend analysis, and on-time delivery
• Explain budget and forecast variances and recommend how to fix or capitalize on trends
• Partner with brand presidents, the RVP, and operations leadership, and work with the FP&A Manager on the forecast
• Lead, coach, and develop your team
• Drive AI adoption and process improvements
• Support annual audits and special projects, including system implementations

What you bring

• 6-10 years of related experience, ideally a mix of public and industry accounting
• 2-3 years managing multiple direct reports
• Strong US GAAP knowledge and financial statement preparation experience
• Proven track record working with business teams to understand drivers and manage costs
• Experience at a company with $100M+ in revenue is a plus
