About The Role
The role owns the accounting close and reporting cycle: general ledger integrity, monthly/quarterly/annual closes, and financial statements prepared under US GAAP. You will ensure SOX compliance across key control areas and support audits, external reporting, and SEC-related disclosures.
This position matters because accurate, on-time financials underpin every decision the business makes. You will work closely with FP&A, engineering, and leadership to keep controls tight, close fast, and scale processes as the company grows.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, delivering accurate GAAP-compliant financial statements on a tight close calendar
- Maintain and strengthen SOX 404 internal controls, documenting key processes and remediating control gaps
- Prepare and review complex journal entries, reconciliations, and account analyses, including revenue recognition under ASC 606 and stock-based compensation under ASC 718
- Coordinate external audits and quarterly reviews, acting as primary point of contact for audit requests and walkthroughs
- Draft technical accounting memos for non-routine transactions and support disclosure requirements aligned with SEC frameworks
- Drive process automation and system improvements in the ERP (NetSuite or similar), reducing manual close work each quarter
- Supervise and develop staff accountants, reviewing their work and building team capability over time
What We Are Looking For
- 5-8 years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting and/or public company close experience
- Deep working knowledge of US GAAP and SOX internal controls; SEC reporting exposure a plus
- CPA (active or inactive) strongly preferred
- Hands-on ERP experience (NetSuite, Workday, SAP, or similar) and strong Excel modeling skills
- Track record of improving close speed and quality through process and system changes
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
- Bonus: experience with IPO-readiness work, SaaS revenue recognition, or equity/stock compensation accounting
