Job summary

Evlo AI is seeking a seasoned accounting leader to own the monthly close, technical accounting, and internal controls for a fast-growing AI company. You will manage US GAAP reporting, SOX 404 compliance, and audit-ready workpapers covering revenue recognition, stock-based compensation, and accruals.

You will lead a small accounting team, serve as primary liaison to external auditors, and collaborate with FP&A and legal on SEC disclosures.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of combined public accounting and industry experience; Big 4 or national firm background preferred.
• Active CPA license is required.
• Deep US GAAP knowledge with hands-on SOX 404 control design, testing, or remediation experience.

Responsibilities

• Own the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process, delivering accurate financial statements within a 5-business-day target.
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and flux analysis for key accounts including revenue, prepaid assets, accruals, and equity.
• Maintain and test SOX 404 internal controls; document control matrices and remediate deficiencies with process owners.
• Research technical accounting issues (ASC 606, ASC 842, ASC 815) and draft position papers for review by leadership and auditors.
• Manage the external audit cycle: coordinate PBC requests, lead walkthroughs, and resolve auditor comments on schedule.
• Drive process automation in NetSuite and FloQast, reducing manual work and tightening close timelines.
• Supervise and develop 2-3 accountants, reviewing their work and building clear procedures and cross-training coverage.

About The Role

The role owns the monthly close, technical accounting, and internal control environment for a high-growth technology company. This means running US GAAP-compliant financial reporting, maintaining SOX 404 controls, and ensuring audit-ready workpapers across revenue recognition (ASC 606), stock-based compensation, and accruals.

You will lead a small accounting team, act as the primary liaison for external auditors, and partner with FP&A and legal on SEC-related disclosures and compliance matters. Accuracy and speed both matter: the close gets faster and cleaner every quarter.

What We Are Looking For

• 5-8 years of combined public accounting and industry experience; Big 4 or national firm background preferred
• Active CPA license
• Deep US GAAP knowledge with hands-on SOX 404 control design, testing, or remediation experience
• Proficiency with NetSuite (or comparable ERP) and close-management tools such as FloQast or BlackLine
• Strong Excel skills and comfort analyzing large datasets; SQL or scripting exposure is a plus
• Proven ability to manage external auditors and deliver clean audit outcomes under deadline pressure
• Bonus: SEC reporting experience (10-K/10-Q drafting), SaaS revenue recognition depth, or experience supporting M&A diligence and purchase accounting
