Job summary

Enlightened, Inc. in Washington, DC is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead the day-to-day finance operations. You will own the close process, manage a small team, and provide clear, audit-ready numbers for leadership.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance, 8+ years of accounting experience with people management, strong GAAP knowledge, and ERP experience (Dynamics SL, UNANET). This hybrid position offers parking and a structured benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 8+ years accounting experience with at least three to five managing people.
• GAAP knowledge and ERP experience with Dynamics SL, UNANET.
• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Ability to explain variances to a non-accountant.

Responsibilities

• Run monthly and year-end close with journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Manage AP, AR, GL, bank reconciliations, cash forecasting, financial reporting and fixed assets.
• Keep books GAAP-compliant and maintain internal controls.
• Be the main contact for external auditors and tax preparers.
• Supervise and develop 2 accounting staff with coaching and growth.
• Proactively flag variances and trends in the numbers.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow visibility with the Controller.
• Identify and improve inefficient or manual accounting processes and automate tasks.

Work Arrangement

This is a hybrid position based in our Washington, DC office.

• 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home

Position Summary

We're looking for an Accounting Manager to run the day-to-day of our accounting function and keep our books tight, accurate, and audit-ready. You'll own the close process, manage a small team, and be the person leadership turns to when they need a straight answer on the numbers.

Responsibilities

• Run monthly and year-end close - journal entries, reconciliations, financial statements, on time and accurate
• Manage AP, AR, general ledger, bank reconciliation, cash forecasting, financial reporting and fixed assets
• Keep our books GAAP-compliant and our internal controls working, not just documented
• Be the main point of contact for external auditors and tax preparers
• Supervise and develop 2 accounting staff - this includes real coaching, guidance and growth
• Proactively flag variances and trends in the numbers
• Work with the Controller on budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow visibility
• Identify and improve inefficient or manual accounting processes, including opportunities to streamline workflows and automate repetitive tasks.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 8+ years of accounting experience, with at least three to five managing people
• Solid grasp of GAAP and hands-on experience with a cloud and Server based ERP (Dynamics SL, UNANET)
• Comfortable in Excel beyond basic formulas
• Someone who can explain a variance to a non-accountant without losing them

Nice to Have

• CPA or CMA
• Experience in Gov Con, Commercial and Private Contracts
• Experience through an ERP migration from start to finish

The expected salary range for this position is listed above. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience and qualifications as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
