Job summary

The Bolton Group in the Greater St. Louis area is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager for a hybrid role that combines leadership of a small accounting team with full ownership of the accounting cycle.

Reporting to the Director of Accounting, you will oversee month-end close, financial statements, GAAP compliance, and collaborate with operations to drive insights and support growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 4-5+ years of progressive accounting experience including supervisory responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, and GAAP.
• Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of 2 accounting professionals.
• Manage full-cycle accounting: GL, month-end close, reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and policy adherence.
• Oversee AP, AR, fixed assets, and cash management.
• Assist budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Coordinate annual audits with external auditors.
• Develop and improve accounting processes and controls.
• Partner with operations to provide financial insights.

Salary: $90,000 - $110,000 + Bonus Potential

Direct Reports: 2 Accounting Professionals

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join a growing organization in the Greater St. Louis area. This hybrid position offers the opportunity to lead a small accounting team while maintaining ownership of the full accounting cycle. Reporting directly to the Director of Accounting, the Accounting Manager will play a key role in financial reporting, process improvements, and supporting the company's continued growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor a team of 2 accounting professionals.
• Manage the full-cycle accounting process, including general ledger, month-end close, account reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP and company policies.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and cash management activities.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Coordinate annual audits and work closely with external auditors.
• Develop and improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting procedures.
• Partner with operational leaders to provide financial insights and support business decisions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 4-5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including management or supervisory responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting and financial reporting.
• Experience leading month-end and year-end close processes.
• Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems and advanced Excel skills.
• CPA designation preferred but not required.
• Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
