Job summary

Planet Group is seeking an Accounting Manager in Seabrook, NH. The role leads a team responsible for accounting, reporting, budgeting, and financial operations, reporting to the VP of Finance and partnering with senior leadership.

The ideal candidate has 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and a track record in multi-entity environments. On-site position with exposure to trusts, nonprofits, and holding companies.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Own the month-end close, including G/L maintenance and intercompany eliminations across multiple entities.
• Oversee accounting for trusts, service businesses, nonprofits, and holding companies.
• Ensure accuracy of financial, budgetary, and operating records.
• Prepare and review financial and operational reporting (P&L, cash, cost accounting).
• Support the annual budgeting and forecasting process and analyze variances.
• Partner with the Owner, CFO, and management on resource allocation and internal controls.
• Lead a team of 4 staff accountants and analysts.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, efficiency, and reporting.
• Manage multiple priorities and ensure reporting deadlines are met.

About the Opportunity

We are partnering with a complex family office and service provider in Seabrook, NH, seeking an Accounting Manager to lead a team responsible for accounting, reporting, budgeting, and financial operations. This position reports directly to the VP of Finance and offers the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership on financial and operational initiatives.

Must-Haves

• 5-8 years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong GL and operational accounting experience
• Multi-entity accounting experience
• Experience working across multiple industries -- not solely within one industry
• 2+ years of supervisory/people management experience; more is preferred
• Experience with internal controls and documentation
• Strong process improvement mindset
• Strong technical accounting foundation and knowledge of GAAP
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field

Plus / Preferred

• Experience within investment, financial services, or wealth management
• CPA
• Family office experience
• Experience with Sage Intacct
• Experience with investment management/reporting systems such as Private Wealth Systems or comparable platforms

Key Responsibilities

• Own the month-end close, including G/L maintenance, reconciliations, and intercompany transactions/eliminations across multiple entities
• Oversee accounting for a complex group of trusts, service businesses, nonprofits, and holding companies
• Ensure accuracy of financial, budgetary, and operating records
• Prepare and review financial and operational reporting, including earnings, P&L, cash balances, and cost accounting
• Support the annual budgeting and forecasting process and analyze/report on variances
• Partner with the Owner, CFO, and management team on resource allocation, capital efficiency, process improvements, policies, and internal controls
• Review historical and current financial trends, budgets, and costs and provide insights to senior leadershipLead and develop a team of 4 staff accountants and analysts
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, efficiency, and reporting
• Manage multiple priorities and ensure reporting deadlines are consistently met

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting leader who has worked in complex, multi-entity environments and can balance strong technical accounting skills with team leadership and operational improvement. Someone who has experience across different industries and is comfortable partnering directly with senior leadership would be especially well suited for this role.
