Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced, hands-on Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day accounting operations and support the broader finance function.

This role will work closely with Finance leadership and will have responsibility across general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial reporting, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial analysis. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working across both accounting and finance responsibilities and able to connect financial information to overall business performance.

The successful candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a hands-on environment. This person should have strong accounting fundamentals, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently while partnering effectively with stakeholders across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting Operations

• Oversee day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Manage invoice processing, coding, approvals, payments, and vendor reconciliations
• Oversee invoicing, collections, customer account reconciliations, and aging reports
• Maintain accurate general ledger records and supporting documentation
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and account reconciliations
• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
• Ensure transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with accounting principles
• Review financial data for accuracy, completeness, and proper period cut-off
• Prepare recurring financial reports and management reporting
• Analyze financial results, trends, and variances
• Monitor key financial metrics and provide insights to Finance leadership
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
• Prepare ad hoc financial analyses and reporting as needed
• Build and maintain financial models, reports, and spreadsheets
• Identify trends and opportunities and communicate findings to leadership

Financial Operations

• Support analysis of business performance, expenses, profitability, and other financial metrics
• Review financial information to identify discrepancies, trends, and opportunities
• Partner with cross-functional teams to understand financial drivers
• Provide financial information and analysis to support business decisions
• Assist with special projects and other finance initiatives

Controls, Compliance & Process Improvement

• Maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Ensure appropriate documentation and approval processes are followed
• Support audits, tax requirements, and other compliance activitiesIdentify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting
• Help develop efficient and scalable financial processes and systems

Cross-Functional Partnership

• Partner with Finance leadership and teams across the organization
• Serve as a resource for questions related to financial data and reporting
• Investigate discrepancies and resolve accounting or reporting issues
• Communicate financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders
• Support business initiatives through reporting, analysis, and financial insight

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
• Strong experience with general accounting, AP, AR, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reportingStrong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Advanced Excel and/or Google Sheets skills
• Experience working with an ERP or accounting system such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar
• Ability to analyze financial data and communicate meaningful insights
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
