Job Overview – Accounting Manager

Compensation: $120,000 – $140,000/year + bonus

Location: New York, NY

Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)

Atlantic Group is recruiting an Accounting Manager in New York, NY for our client, supporting financial reporting, month-end close activities, and general ledger operations within a growing organization. This role will oversee daily accounting functions, manage a team of accounting professionals, and partner closely with leadership to strengthen reporting accuracy, internal controls, and operational processes. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in public and private accounting, leadership experience, and advanced knowledge of GAAP and financial systems.

Responsibilities as the Accounting Manager

• General Ledger Oversight: Manage general ledger accounting activities, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting processes.
• Month-End Close: Lead month-end and year-end close procedures while ensuring timely and accurate completion of deliverables.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare internal financial statements, support reporting requirements, and maintain compliance with accounting standards.
• Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor accounting staff while promoting accountability, collaboration, and process improvement.
• Payroll & Expense Review: Oversee payroll-related journal entries, accruals, expense reconciliations, and funding activity.
• Process Improvement: Enhance accounting procedures, strengthen internal controls, support audits, and drive operational efficiencies across the finance function.

Qualifications for the Accounting Manager

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is required.
• Certification: CPA or CPA track is required.
• Experience: 5+ years of accounting experience across public and private environments with prior leadership experience is required.
• Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, reconciliations, accruals, and month-end close processes is required.
• Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency with NetSuite, Excel, and accounting systems is required.
• Skills & Attributes: Strong analytical skills, communication abilities, attention to detail, leadership capabilities, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment are required.
