Our client, an established organization within the financial education and events industry, is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee its accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, maintain accurate financial records, and support the CFO with month-end close preparation.
This hands-on position is ideal for someone who enjoys managing accounting processes from start to finish and is comfortable supporting payroll, employee onboarding, benefits administration, and other operational responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounts payable, including coding invoices, processing payments, and maintaining vendor records
- Manage accounts receivable, including invoicing, tracking payments, and following up on outstanding balances
- Maintain accurate and current financial records within QuickBooks
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements regularly
- Prepare account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and documentation for month-end close
- Work directly with the CFO to ensure financial information is complete and accurate
- Monitor daily cash activity and identify discrepancies promptly
- Support employee onboarding by establishing new hires within payroll systems and collecting required documentation
- Coordinate with HR regarding employee benefits enrollment
- Assist with 401(k) administration and other HR-related recordkeeping
- Handle sensitive financial and employee information with discretion and confidentiality
- Support additional accounting, finance, HR, and administrative projects as assigned by the CFO
Qualifications
- At least three years of hands-on accounting experience
- Experience managing both accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Working knowledge of QuickBooks; QuickBooks Online experience preferred
- Familiarity with month-end close processes and general accounting principles
- Experience preparing account reconciliations and supporting financial schedules
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work closely with executive leadership and employees throughout the organization
- High level of discretion when handling confidential financial and employee information
- Collaborative, team-oriented approach with the flexibility to manage multiple responsibilities
Preferred Experience
- Employee onboarding, payroll, benefits, or HR administration
- 401(k) administration or related recordkeeping
- Event-based or hospitality accounting, including deposits and live-event reconciliations
- Previous experience working directly with a CFO or outside accounting consultant
