Job summary

Professional Search Group is seeking an Accounting Services Manager to lead the accounting services function for a diverse client base in Southern California. You will build and coach a team, develop scalable processes, and drive efficient, high-quality bookkeeping and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and retain the accounting services team, including recruiting, onboarding, training, mentoring, and performance management.
• Manage team workflow, capacity, and production schedules to ensure client work is completed accurately and on time.
• Oversee bookkeeping and financial statement preparation for multiple clients.
• Review financial reporting and identify errors, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement.
• Develop and document accounting processes and SOPs to create a scalable and consistent workflow.
• Improve workflow, review procedures, turnaround times, and overall team efficiency.
• Manage multiple client engagements and competing deadlines.
• Assist with scoping engagements, pricing, and setting client expectations.
• Monitor budgets, engagement profitability, production timelines, and team capacity.
• Prepare and manage work-in-progress reporting and provide updates to leadership.
• Work directly with clients and internal leadership to address accounting needs and resolve issues.
• Identify opportunities to expand services and support new business opportunities.
• Track team performance and key operational metrics.
• Help foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable team environment.

The Accounting Services Manager will lead the firm's accounting services function, overseeing a team responsible for delivering bookkeeping and financial reporting services to a diverse group of clients. • Strong understanding of financial reporting and accounting operations.
• Experience improving processes and increasing efficiency.
• Experience with engagement budgets, profitability, capacity planning, or production management.
• Strong client communication and relationship management skills.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently, make decisions, and take ownership of responsibilities.

CPA or equivalent designation is strongly preferred.
